Hello,
Although it seems like only yesterday that we started our grand journey via a well-attended AGM, I can assure you it was not. It was several months ago and so now we need to have another.
Anybody who's bothered to attend the various events/lectures/impromptu sessions we've hosted all year can attest to psych soc having been a success. But now that I'm emigrating (for a year) and most of the rest of the committee are emigrating (permanently) after graduation, we're a little short of manpower. You're probably wondering why you should attend the AGM and take on a committee position. Well, there are lots of reasons:
1. You will get to abuse college funds to fund elaborate paintballing/drinking sessions.
2. You will meet lots of fun and like-minded, people.
3. It looks good on a CV and you get an ALIVE cert and lots of pats on the back.
So whether your a down-on-your luck alcoholic, want 100 more friends on facebook, or are just a soulless careerist, psych soc is the place for you! :) Please, come along to that little cafĂ© at the end of Ăras na Mac LĂ©inn on Thursday, the 1st of April at half 5. If you really can't make the AGM, but would like to be involved in the society anyway, just send an email, and we'll squeeze you in for a committee position somehow.
Afterwards, we may descend on the college bar for some pizza and beer.
Goodbye,
John Birrane (soon-to-be-former auditor).
Come and start the day with Lovesoc.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for nothing specific. To cap off a truly marvelous term the NSS will be taking it upon themselves to have NUIG's first ever ice cream social! There will be several flavours (including vanilla). It'll be a laid back affair with fun guaranteed*. After, we'll have our AGM and elect new commitee members to the Nothing Specific society for 2010/2011. So join us won't you?
*Not a guarantee.

Keith Farnan: Cruel and Unusual Irish Comedian Versus American Death Penalty.
The show is in aid of Amnesty International, tickets are âŹ5 from the Socs Box!
âWith his shaggy mind and ruffled demeanour he is as close to a reincarnated pre-Black Books Dylan Moran as we're likely to see nowadaysâ The Scotsman âCruel and Unusualâ is Keith Farnan's first full-length Solo Stand-up show since he stopped working as a Solicitor. (That will form the basis of a separate show entitled "What was I thinking?â) Although the death penalty is not often noted as a topic of comedy, Keith's experiences as an intern with a public defender in Georgia and with the Innocence Project in New York allow him to take a comic swipe against the lunacy of capital punishment. âCruel and Unusualâ is a comedy show telling the story of Keith Farnanâs journey from law school in Ireland to the Innocence Project in New York city, meeting with Sr.Helen Prejean of Dead Man Walking fame, to a public defenders office in Georgia where he figures out that the Irish might just be the only people who can tell America to stop the madness.
