The Law Society aims to promote Legal and Political issues through discussions, debate and guest speakers. We already have a full schedule for semester one with plenty more to look forward to in semester two. One of the highlights of the year is the ever-popular Law Ball in Late January. It is a great social event for all students to attend and is always great craic so get in early for your tickets and dust off that suit or gown!
Following the success of our joint Lisbon Debate with the Literary and Debating society, and our Karaoke night, we are pushing ahead with our schedule. Check the Calendar for upcoming events and watch out for the Attorney General and RTE Crime Correspondent Paul Reynolds in November!
We have great sponsors this year such as top Irish Corporate Law firm A&L Goodbody and the Dáil Bar in Galway city centre. With their help, we are aiming to give law students, and anyone else who is interested, a great range of extra-curricular opportunities to add to their education at NUI Galway. One great way to do this is to take part in Mooting workshops and competitions. This involves being given a case which you research and then argue in a courtroom-type situation. It’s a great experience and looks very good on your CV too for when you go looking for a job.
Keep an eye out for our events on posters around college or sign up to Lawsoc online to get the email or text alerts about our events!
