The Accountancy and Finance society, is a major society on NUIG campus, with its initial launch event seeing the director of the biggest Accountancy Companies in Ireland -KPMG making an exclusive speech to NUIG students.
For the upcomming academic year 2010-2011 the society plans on becomming one of the most high profile societies on nuig campus events planned for 2010-2011 include
-Launching the society by breaking the world record for the world's longest chololate bar ever made
-Guest speakers from major international financial institutions
-Trip to London to award Gordon Brown the societies annual award for Financial and Accounting Prudence in his hosting of the G20 summit.
-An exclusive screening of the Enron movie with the NUIG film society to expose the facts of the biggest coverup in US history and the rise and fall of a $60billion company due to accounting fraud.
-Opening of the Free Financial Advice centre similar to the Free Legal Advice Centre operated by the law society
These are only a handful of the planned events for the next academic year, sign up to the society to keep informed on upcomming events
Sean and Lorna(President and vice President ) were the 2 organisers of the biggest mystery tour NUIG has ever had to date, taking 300 first year students on a majour night out in 2010, which was dubbed the best social event of 2010, so you can rest assured the society will be organising majour social events aswell during the upcomming year.

Sean and lorna are also Class Representatives for the B.Comm(Accounting) degree, Sean also holds various other committe positions in 5 other societies and plans on scheduling events in-conjunction with these societies to better serve NUIG students and avoid duplication of events.

The Accountancy and Finance society was recently formed by Sean Burke and Lorna Taaffe two first year accountancy students, it has proved to be a majour hit with students with the launch event seeing the director of the biggest accoutancy company in ireland - KPMG make an exclusive speech to NUIG students, the society realises that due to the financial turmoil in recent months that a number of societies are hosting financial talks about the recession and other accountancy related issues, the committe of the accountancy and finance society have decided to offer the opportunity to other societies planning on hosting a financial talk to group up with the society to host the event, so should your society plan a financial baced speech/ debate in the upcomming months dont hesitate to email Sean or Lorna !!
