Irish Studies Society is a society for the department of Irish Studies and linked with the Centre of Irish Studies here in NUI Galway. Founded in late 2009 and started up in 2010 we received full society status in November 2010. Not only just for students of Irish Studies but for all with an interest in the Irish language (who perhaps are not fortunate to speak this beautiful language!!) Irish Studies is the study of Irish literature, language, theatre, customs, traditions, dance and music but through English.

The Society explores the non-academia side of this wonderful list and hosts theatre nights, film, comedy and Ceilí nights and nights you won’t forgot in a hurry –Fake Wake anyone? Leprechaun Hunt?!

With an enthusiastic committee and fantastic members (but we are biased!) and the wonderful support of The Centre of Irish Studies, Irish Studies Society is a growing new society and new members are always welcome!
