Their route will take them through Oranmore, Clarinbridge, Kilcolgan, Ardrahan, Gort, Crusheen, Barefield, New Market On Fergus, Shannon and Limerick city, bucket collectors will be on hand at each location.
VSA founded in 1977 by Galway doctor, Dom Colbert, and run by fourth year medical students at NUI Galway, raises funds for health care facilities in developing countries. Our volunteers travel to hospitals and clinics abroad, personally funding their own travel and accommodation expenses, so that all VSA funds raised can go toward the purchase of medical supplies and equipment. Where possible we spend money locally, in order to reduce transport costs and benefit the local economy.
This summer, 37 medical student volunteers will travel to our 8 partner hospitals in Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Senegal, providing financial and practical support in an increasingly difficult financial environment within the African healthcare system.
