Skeptic Soc and PsychSoc are co-hosting a talk which tackles an issue that is becoming increasingly important in modern-day Ireland.
Dr Brian Hughes is a former President of the Psychological Society of Ireland, an active member of Irish Skeptics, and is currently Director of the Centre for Research on Occupational and Life Stress at NUI Galway.
He'll be speaking about the forces working against scientific progress, including the rise of "alternative" medicine and new-age gimmicks, conservatives who stand opposed to scientific research, and misinformation.
The talk is at 6pm on Thursday 18th, in AM250. It is free of charge and all are welcome. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
